The git subproject is hardcoded to this version. Of course if
you built for wheezy the subproject should be changed to pick up
the xorg version of wheezy. Furthermore, the symlink xserver.patch
has to be adjusted accordingly.

As we prepare packages for Debian wheezy and have to move the package
into unstable first, we have to use Xorg from unstable.

First of all, the current HEAD of master branch is momentarily broken and does no build. It got to late last night / morning, so sorry for leaving an open building site... Will continue tonight, probably.

You do not necessarily need to use the same, even though it is a good
starting point. As you can see from vnc4 I still use xfree, not even
xorg...

Well, you also have disabled vnc.so. If you don't use the current X11
server of the distribution, then a working vnc.so is not guaranteed.
Well, we also could investigate to build vnc.so and only vnc.so against
the installed xserver-xorg-dev.

This is a question I have right from the beginning... Do we really need the xorg-server code in the package??? Can we not build against Xorg's -dev packages in Debian instead? I have been involved in providing packages for NX server where we face a very similar situation. NX server is currently rejected by Debian as it comes with an old and unpatched (no security patches applied that have been applied to Xorg since 6.9) X11 source tree.

Regards,
Joachim

P.S.: I created a squeeze-backports branch

Great!

Greets,
Mike
