Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I am requesting someone to adopt WMakerConf and give it some TLC. I've
moved to using Gnome/Metacity instead of WindowMaker on my laptop, so I no
longer have much incentive or energy to maintain the package.

Please note that any adopter will also have to take over as WMakerConf
upstream. The program should probably be ported to use GTK+ 2 and deal
with new features of WindowMaker 0.90. I have prototype code to link
against GTK+ 2 at http://www.starplot.org/wmakerconf/wmakerconf-2.10.tar.gz
but there are still a number of problems with it, described at
http://www.starplot.org/wmakerconf/TODO

You may also want to look at the current WMakerConf project page,
http://www.starplot.org/wmakerconf/index.html

For anyone really interested, a good accompanying project would be to port
gtk-engines-gtkstep to GTK+ 2; it's a NeXTStep-like GTK+ theme. Its upstream
(same as the original author of WMakerConf) abandoned it long ago but the
source is still available in woody.

The wmakerconf package description is:
Interactive graphical configuration utility for Window Maker. It
permits configuration of Window Maker using a mouse driven point and
click interface, avoiding direct manual editing of its configuration
 files.
 .
There is not much point in installing this program without
Window Maker on the system, but this package doesn't depend on the
wmaker package so it may be used with, for example, self-compiled
 installations of Window Maker.
