I have pushed some changes to the git repository to update the upstream branch and especially the master branch so that we work towards a cleaner package with 2.6.5. I may be mixing too many things together here, but I feel it's still a good start. I have outlined the remaining issues in the TODO: http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/smokeping.git;a=blob_plain;f=debian/TODO;hb=HEAD ... so this is likely not installable right now, although it builds properly. It is certainly not ready for an upload however, even in experimental, as I haven't even tested this once.
