Bug#578157: bitcoind is easy to compile

indeed the GUI is not necessary.

I've just checked on Sid, and the console version of the program is easy to compile.

I just had to :

$ sudo apt-get install build-essential libboost-all-dev libssl-dev libdb-dev libdb4.8++-dev libglib2.0-dev

and then run :

../bitcoin/src $ make -f makefile.unix bitcoind

Thanks for confirming.

Yes, I have this far too - and a bit further: The code uses embedded copies of the external projects Crypto++ and JSON Spirit. For Debian these must be packaged separately, primarily to help track potential security issues.

Crypto++ is already in Debian, JSON Spirit needs packaging.
