That's not a consequence.

it's a very minimalistic list of thinks to change. Not cheking (very
simple bugs) to close in an upload is not playing fine with debian.

The package is filed since mid-September, and fix this would have take
10 minutes (including building the package, install it and check it's
workng). It's not RC because py2.6 is still in experimental, because
the maintainer doesn't want to upload until everything is fixed. Did
you know that? I do, that's why I'm complaining.
