Well, no response. So, orphaned it is. I've already uploaded with the
maintainer set to Debian QA Group.
If anyone does want to work on the package, it might be worth looking at
bzr.licquia.org; I have the version control for my package maintenance
there. In particular, the work I had done to update to diald 1.0 is
there. I'll leave it up for the foreseeable future, but it won't ever
be updated; you're advised to branch off mine and go from there if you
want to use it.
As mentioned before, it might be worth considering whether to remove
diald from the archive; it's old software that hasn't been maintained
upstream in a long time.
