Bug#484556: RFP: libcgi-session-serialize-yaml-perl -- YAML serializer for CGI::Session

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

CGI::Session::Serialize::yaml was broken out into a separate package
from CGI::Session in revision 4.29_1 on 2008-03-15, according to the
upstream changelog from that package.

Since this sub-module used to be provided by CGI::Session, debian
testing has actually regressed since CGI::Session v4.30 passed into
testing, as yaml serialization is now unavailable.

So if we could get this packaged separately, it would be a good thing.

I've built a totally un-reviewed dh-make-perl package of 4.21 of this
module, and it seems to work, so i don't expect there to be many road
bumps. But i'm not an experienced perl packager, and i'd be happy to
have someone else take this on.

Regards,

* Package name    : libcgi-session-serialize-yaml-perl
  Version         : 4.21
  Upstream Author : Ron Savage <ron@savage.net.au>
* URL             : http://search.cpan.org/~rsavage/CGI-Session-Serialize-yaml-4.21/
* License         : Artistic
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : YAML serializer for CGI::Session

This library can be used by CGI::Session to serialize session data. It
uses YAML, or the faster C implementation, YAML::Syck if it is
available. YAML serializers exist not just for Perl but also other
dynamic languages, such as PHP, Python, and Ruby, so storing session
data in this format makes it easy to share session data across
different languages.

YAML is made to be friendly for humans to parse as well as other
computer languages. It creates a format that is easier to read than
the default serializer.
