Bug#358799: Adoption of l2tpd/packaging of xl2tpd

package wnpp
retitle 358799 ITA: l2tpd -- A layer 2 tunneling protocol implementation.
thanks

Hello,

I travel quite a bit and have really felt the need for a good VPN
solution while I am on the road. I was using l2tpd (and now xl2tpd) in
order to make configuration from the client perspective as simple as
possible (i.e., it facilitates easily switching between devices as I
travel).

To that end, I'd like to adopt l2tpd (in order to turn it into a dummy
package and facilitate a transition to xl2tpd). The old l2tpd has not
seen any activity for a while and it appears that upstream is also still
dead.

I have already built a preliminary Debian package which I am testing out
on my own system. Incidentally, a SourceForge or Gforge project or
something like that to facilitate upstream development/support/bug
reporting and so on would be good.

I have already filed an ITP (bug #427113) [0] for the xl2tpd package. My
intent is have that one conflict/replace the l2tpd package. The only
thing left for me to implement is handling the migration of the
configuration and secrets.

Regards,

-Roberto
