 This package contains the scripts for developing and building FreeDict

The proposed name of the binary package produced by this source package
is "freedict-tools-dev".

Currently, the dict-freedict-eng-deu binary package, as well as more
than 50 other dict-freedict-foo-bar packages are shipped with Debian.
These are all produced from one big source package called "freedict".
This freedict source is not shipped by upstream.  It's not the preferred
format for modification of these dict's.  It merely is a manual merge of
all pre-formatted dict files, which are shipped in separate tarballs by
upstream.

Luckily, upstream also ships real sources for each dict.  The plan is to
generate the dict-freedict-eng-deu and other binary packages from such
per-dict source packages.

The freedict-tools-dev binary package will be a build-dependency for the
planned new freedict dictionary packages.

(Kęstutis Biliūnas and me are using the pkg-freedict Alioth project and
SVN repository for this work.)
