Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the xmltv source package.

    Gather television listings, process them and organize your viewing.
    XMLTV is a file format for storing TV listings, defined in
    xmltv.dtd. =20

    http://membled.com/work/apps/xmltv/

I would like to find someone to take this package over. I would be
willing to stay on as co-maintainer, but I would prefer not to have to
sponsor package uploads while in that role. Since I'm trying to unload
this package due to time constraints, having to sponsor the package
doesn't really do me any good (it would take more effort to sponsor this
package than just maintain it).

See: http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/09/msg01318.html

Mathias Weyland <mathias@weyland.ch> did initially express interest in
maintaining this package. I have not heard from him after his initial
email, when I asked him whether he would need me to sponsor his uploads.

Chris never wrote me back in reply to this mail (from early December)
and also never replied to a bug report I forwarded him in early December
or to another query I sent on January 2. He also never made an upload
to take over the package and never added any additional information to
the Debian request, to clarify his intentions. Because of this, I have
to assume he's not really going to take over the package.

Unfortunately, this is the reaction I've gotten from pretty much
everyone who expressed interest in the package since I put it up for
adoption on October 1 (although none of the others publicly announced
that they would take over the package like Chris did). Because of this,
I've decided to give up trying to find an adopter. I'm going to close
the Debian request for an adopter and continue maintaining XMLTV myself,
including the backport to Debian 'sarge'. The workload has been
relatively light lately, so I shouldn't have any problem keeping up with
it.

I will upload packages for the latest XMLTV release later this weekend.
The sarge backport will appear at the same time.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
