Bug#176737: magicfilter

Adam, David,

I think the decision on how to proceed is largely up to David.

I managed to get magicfilter 2 packaged for Sid.  I am willing to continue my 
efforts to take over as maintainer.  David has been playing the role of 
mentor, but I don't know if he wants to continue.  As I understand the new 
maintainer process I believe I need a mentor who eventually becomes my 
advocate.  If David thinks my progress has been adequate and he is willing to 
be my mentor/advocate I'm ready to proceed with the application process.

But keep in mind that I am mostly interested in being helpful to the project.  
If David thinks another arrangement might work out better for magicfilter, 
I'm flexible.  I have been slow in completing this work.

As far as the packaging goes I'd like to do some testing with some additional 
printers, and also with some network printers (I tried this once and had a 
problem but I didn't track it down).  I'm not sure what David thinks needs to 
be done next.  Implementing Adam's suggestions would also be nice.  

So, David, how would you like to proceed?
