By the way, do you know why? He used to be a very active developer,
and then disappeared...

I suppose so. However, it is optimized for the ev5, I don't know how
well it does on ev6.

Hm, I've never really used it, I'll think about it. Right now I don't
really have time for a few weeks, anyway... (finishing diploma)

On a related note, when I asked, somebody at DEC^WCompaq^WHP (George
France) said it wouldn't be totally impossible to make some of the
Tru64 system libraries ("libots") free software, and he would ask
about it. That would be cool, since it contains highly optimized
assembly routines and might make libffm redundant. Last time I asked
him about progress I didn't get a reply, though.  Just thought I'd
mention it in case you meet somebody from HP... ;-)
