Well, I took the upstream author description...

This software is a nagios/bb like tool, written in php, so it can
monitors services and much more by using agents (cpu, mem...). It can use
snmp too, make graphs like mrtg of collected informations, make network
maps....etc.

The best think you can do is to take a look at the homepage. This ITP
was just to informs that I'm working on the package, but at this time I
haven't choosed definitive descriptions...I expect to work actively on it
next week-end;-))

Zabbix itself is in beta stage, but I think it's an interesting tool.
The upstream author is really a debian user and dev. it on woody, so we
will work together to make the upstream package close to a debian
package
