Bug#184085: RFP: luminiere -- a GNOME frontend to mplayer and libxine

Package: wnpp
Version: unavailable; reported 2003-03-09
Severity: wishlist

* Package name    : luminiere
  Version : 0.4
Upstream Author : Stéphane Konstantaropoulos <stephanek[at]brutele[dot]be>

Description : a GNOME frontend to mplayer and libxine

This is basically a bonobo/gnome wrapping for mplayer and xine,
including a nice gnome-frontend.

>From the home page:

| Lumiere is a GNOME frontend to mplayer the great movie player for
| *nix. and to libxine from the xine project
|
| Mplayer is really good, but unfortunately it is a bit difficult to use
| IMHO. I wanted to integrate it into the GNOME as a Bonobo component so
| that I could preview, or even view media files (mostly videos) from
| within the Nautilus file manager.
|
| See it as Galeon for Mozilla, a Gnomification of a great piece of
| software I recently discovered the API of libxine, it seems really
| clear, so I use it from now on, xine is a bit slower but as it is in a
| shared library, much more things can be done with it. This is my first
| attempt at GTK+ and at Bonobo programming, so it is VERY buggy
|
| The fourth public release is a development release for you. Feedback
| would be really nice.
