Bug#103406: ITA/ITH/ITP GAP Groups, Algorithms and Programming computer algebra system

Followup-For: Bug #103406
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-12-19

Hello developers,

GAP 4r3 is under the GPL instead of the old non DFSG-free license.

Since the current GAP Debian packages (gap and gap4) are in non-free and
are mainly unmaintained, I will take over the development.

Preliminary packages are available at

#woody/stable
deb http://people.debian.org/~ballombe/gap woody main
deb-src http://people.debian.org/~ballombe/gap woody main
#sarge/testing
deb http://people.debian.org/~ballombe/gap sarge main
deb-src http://people.debian.org/~ballombe/gap sarge main
#sid/unstable
deb http://people.debian.org/~ballombe/gap sid main

License: GPL
Description: Groups, Algorithms and Programming computer algebra system
GAP is a system for computational discrete algebra with particular
emphasis on computational group theory, but which has already proved
useful also in other areas. In the example text, gap is used to
analyse Rubik's Cube using group theory. A kernel implements a Pascal-like
 language.

If nobody object, I will ask for the removal of the old non-free
packages before uploading mine.

Cheers,
Bill. <ballombe@debian.org>
