No need to repeat the name in the short description, just "an
interactive geographic data viewer" is sufficient. That it is written in
python is irrelevant to the description. (I can always find out, if I
care, by looking at the Depends.)

"Platform" only has one 't'. 

I'd argue that the description you've written is aimed a lot more at
developers than users. As a user, what I'd mostly care about is what
kind of geographic data formats it's capable of displaying, and what
different ways it can display that data.
