I just downloaded the source from
  http://planetmirror.com/pub/opennms/releases/latest/tar/source/opennms-source-0.9.9-3.tar.gz
(19.5 MB) Web pages tell that building from source is tricky.

Regarding the article in the German magazine "Linux Magazin" it is worth
packaging.  Some kind of replacement for HP Openview or something like
that.
