I have to confess that I have no idea. A Google search for 'DeWitt
Clinton Perl' shows at least a consistent net presence under that name,
and his work e-mail address is dclinton@.

That indeed wasn't a piece of US history I knew. Perhaps it's the sort
of first name that proud parents called Clinton tend to give (inflict
upon?) their children.
