FWIW, I agree.

I think Chris requested at least the Cite extension and some support for
interlinks like bts: and mailto:. I waited for these requests to trickle
back to me to actually install something.

I am fine to manually handle the installation right now - it looks to me
like we can have an easy migration path to backports eventually. That's
assuming that we find a good story for versioning of mediawiki itself in
stable/backports - i.e. are the plugins for the stable or the backports
version, etc.

It looks like this is already fixed? Taavi has access to both the Apache
and the Mediawiki config, i.e. that's all... devolved power. :)
