It is more important not to be misleading, than it is to capture
everything in the proposal.

The summary you have written is misleading, because there is in fact
no requirement in Lucas's proposal for anything to support
alternatives `as much as possible' (whatever that might mean).

Lucas's proposal puts heavy emphasis on support for the _default_ init
system, and generally treats alternatives as second class citizens.

As for alternatives, Lucas's proposal merely says that maintainers are
encouraged to _merge_ support.  It does not even mildly encourage
maintainers or upstreams to provide such support themselves.
