Above all, do no harm. That's our main goal.
Like security, volatile should be used by lots of stable
machines a way to getter updates, so, if new DKIM doesn't break
anything and is important, I would vote for it.
Be aware, that we try to avoid being another backport
area, so you should avoid a new upstream release, but in fact,
incorporate new changes in the etch version if it is possible.
There is always volatile-sloppy, I follow DKIM and I
think it should be safe, I'm just concerned about software that
uses this lib and reverse dependencies of it, if you update, it
will be binary compatible?
