debian-volatile@lists.debian.org                         Martin Zobel-Helas
December 28th, 2005
- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Package              : spamassassin
Version              : 3.1.0a-0volatile2
Importance           : medium
CVE IDs              : n/a

Spam filtering is a fast moving target. For this reason, spamassassin
was updated upstream recently. However, this required an larger amount of
changes than we're usually willing to accept into volatile. Also, some
configuration options have been changed.

For this reasons, this package was accepted into the sloppy section of the
volatile archiv, means: updates are not installed automatically until the
package is pinned up accordingly.

   * Bugs fixed:
     - Dont segfault on large headers.
     - ISO-2022 charset shifting escape sequence threw off bare-URI parsing.
     - Dont leave helper apps running when spamassassin times out.
     - Identify syslog entries as spamd.
     - Avoid duplicate processes when exec() fails.
     - Memory usage reduced when the message contains loads of newlines.
     - trusted_networks not ignored for X-Originating-IP.
     - Fixed segfault when transport_setup failed.
     - Fixes issue where second spamd instance was not getting killed
     - Fixed USERPASS false positives.
     - Fixed mutex lock files for the flock lock method not respecting
       bayes_file_mode file permissions
     - Plenty of minor bugfixes.
     - Plenty of doc fixes, including a README update.
   * New features:
     - Added support for multiple hosts via spamc -d.
     - Added DomainKeys support.
     - Support for IPv6 resolvers.
     - Added new Bayes storage options: SDBM, MySQL, PostgreSQL.
     - Apache prefork mechanism.
     - AWL is a plugin.
     - sa-update helps to update rules.
     - storable not used anymore.
     - New plugins: DomainKeys, MIMEHeader, ...
   * Debian specific:
     - Debconf not used anymore.
     - Logcheck filters modified.
