The jwhois package in "sarge" didn't work with IP address queries for
various IP ranges. This has been fixed by updating the default
configuration.
For sarge, an updated jwhois package is available in sarge/volatile
as version 3.2.2-3.volatile1. We recommend that you update your system.

You can get the updated packages at

and install them with dpkg, or add
deb http://volatile.debian.net/debian-volatile sarge/volatile main
