Heh. That sounds ideal to me, but I can understand your contrary
preference as well.
How do I force networking to start automatically at boot time (i.e., before I
log in)? I don't see anything in System Settings that I can set to do this.
For wired networking, if I were you, I would look at
$ man 5 interfaces
