Instead of full-upgrade, try safe-upgrade. It can usually get you
beyond the humps. I also think you are missing a couple of reboots in
your command chain. That handles the Aptitude error message.
But I think you should be following Debian's published procedure for a
dist-upgrade, and not using an ad-hoc procedure someone came up with
on the web. The published procedure is available at
