Hello, Dear Debian User List Dear Bug Report team
But I need your help for this issue Can you please help me on this
My name is Loic (Demos95), (Demos-Lo), and I would like to raise an issue regarding the /etc/hosts file format across all operating systems: Linux, Windows, and macOS.
After working in IT support for many years, I have observed that many IT engineers create incorrectly formatted files; often with duplicate IPs or multiple FQDNs even in cloud environments and large organisations. This can cause applications to fail, spike CPU and memory usage, and produce unpredictable network behaviour. Please note that /etc/hosts is always read before DNS, so errors in the file can block communication without clear error messages.
My question is: Do you have a contact at Debian that can help to follow this with IEEE and IETF ?
I have created the Thread Line in IETF Forum Group : https://github.com/ietf-tools/datatracker/issues/10088
Please waiting your help and reply on this
Kind regards Loic Coupel |
