Chromium installed, won't open

On my Debian laptop

   dpkg -l chromium

   ii chromium 143.8.7499.48-1-deb13u1

and chromium is listed in internet programs along with firefoxESR.

firefox loads and runs, no problems.

chromium doesn't load, just blue screen.

Oh my Mint pc the same result but google-chrome-canary also loads and runs. 

The google-chrome programs are not included as installation candidates on the Debian laptop.

Any suggestions?
