My experience has been the opposite. I've updated a lot of BIOS and
firmware, and I have never had an update fail. The updated BIOS or
firmware have fixed many problems. Remember, the BIOS or firmware is
just another buggy program that needs updating on occasion.
You should reconsider the update.
