So much emotions for something which is Just Technology :-) I don't know what a new Debian installation would chose as default networking suite -- but consider that upgrades have path dependencies (and try not to throw away stuff the user has taken some pains in configuring). To present the opposite extreme, I do use ifupdown (even not NM!) and am happy as a clam. To each their own, and peace :) Cheers -- t
