Hooks on the plastic lid engage grooves inside the perimeter of the aluminum base.
You can push old credit cards into the gaps opened with the blade.
That helps to keep the hooks out of the grooves when the blade is
moved.
Once credit cards are holding the hooks out of the grooves you can
pry the lid off the base; or the base out of the lid.
Apple outdid themselves with this one. =8~/
