I think you have stopped reading there and not understood the author's
point. The author doesn't reject XLibre because it is explicitly
political, he rejects XLibre because he doesn't like XLibre's politics
in particular.

That is, you have interpreted the title as:

    You may not like that this involves politics

when in fact he was trying to convey:

    You may not like the politics of XLibre

That is also my view.

It's what exactly the politics are that matters to me. The difference is
that I think Debian's politics are of great benefit to the world.
