There is no policy in Debian against providing cron files, so just bear
in mind that a volunteer chose not to spend their time on that in Debian.
It is unfortunate when maintainers in Debian make choices that we don't
agree with, as it is not usually something that other volunteers can
override.
The lack of progress on the other package though may indicate that
there isn't actually very much demand. I'm not familiar with its story.
