report. Unfortunately, besides getting a newer laptop, I'm out of other ideas
likely to be of much use getting Trixie to work in the near future, if ever. :(

You should try booting live media of recent vintage of another distro or more,
something with kernel 6.12 or newer. Current is 6.16. Whatever other distro you
try, ensure xorg version is at least version X.Org v: 1.21.1.15. The bug tracking
team likely would make that request if you don't report you already tried.

If this is trouble is due to an unfixed bug, don't count on it getting fixed.
Unfixed bugs related to old NVidia GPUs seem to be getting more common than they
used to be. e.g.
