Dear Debian Team,
I am experiencing a severe issue on Debian and Debian-based distributions when using LibreOffice with large fonts.
When attempting to display content particularly with large fonts and black text the system becomes completely unresponsive and returns to the login screen and no logs are preserved after the crash.
However, I did notice one error message during boot (shown only on Debian-based systems, not Fedora or Arch ) " i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* CPU pipe B FIFO underrun"
This issue does not occur on Fedora or Arch Linux. I suspect it may be related to the graphics stack in Debian, possibly involving the intel i915 driver.
Affected System
- Debian 11
- Linux Mint 21.1
- Kali Linux: kernel 6.12.25-amd64
Not Affected:
- Fedora 41
- Arch Linux (Latest)
System & Software:
- LibreOffice: LibreOffice 25.2.2.2 520(Build:2)
- Hardware: Intel Celeron 925 :)
- Graphics Driver: i915
- DE: KDE Plasma
- Display Server: X11 and Wayland both having the same issue
Issue Summary:
- Using large any fonts
- Displaying text in black color causes crash, especially when entering presentation mode in Impress
- System becomes unresponsive and logs out to the login screen
- No logs are preserved: nothing useful in journalctl, dmesg, or ~/.xsession-errors.
I am happy to test patches, provide more system details, or try kernel parameters if suggested. Please let me know if this is a known issue or how I might help debug further.
Thank you :) for your work maintaining Debian and related systems.
Best regards,
Rohin S
