This is one of my biggest gripes about software packages. As in, "WTF does this DO?!" Too often they seem to leave that out for some reason...
Look for a doc package to go along with it. If it's installed you'll probably find the contents in /usr/share/doc. The best doc and often the original doc from which the rest is derived is usually found in the git repository for the source. Look for it.
