Does the "dark screen with streaks" still show something useful?
Maybe a photo would help diagnose the problem.

If the "dark screen with streaks" does not show anything resembling the
windows&text you expect to see, then it reminds me of a thing I've seen
on some laptops when the driver fails to initialize the
display properly (i.e. a software problem).  Does it happen right away
at boot, or only later on (say, when the DRM driver is loaded, or when
X11 or Wayland is launched)?
