When dealing with legacy OS like WinXP I prefer to be on a safe side and choose older module, which emulates a chipset from Pentium I era.
So guest OS won't freak out and will install drivers automatically.
It also matters if OS was previously installed on that specific virtualized hardware, otherwise it will boot into BSoD.
Older OS can't handle properly these, basically, "motherboard swaps".
