On some old Red Hat systems at work, I have observed e2fsck performing
parallel scans of file systems on multiple disks. On the systems in
question, it showed one progress bar *at a time* in a cyclic rotation.
That is, it would show the progress bar for file system number one, for
a few seconds, and then the progress bar for file system number two, for
a few seconds, and so on.
I don't know whether the e2fsck on Debian does this. Or even whether
modern Red Hat descendant systems do it. It's just what I saw in
the past.
