the university uses 'Google Apps for Education'. no problems. I read this list through plain google. also I do some commercial communication with it.no advertisements I can connect with using it. there is spam but all of it is wholly unrelated to anything I am doing.
I use Alpine though as mail client, the web-interface I use for searches or to more easily grab URL's I want.
