I did

sudo rm -f /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/*
sudo apt remove xserver-xorg-video-radeon
and rebooted. I got

So X11 is running the modesetting driver but not opengl, while the ASUSTeK driver still seems to be radeon.
I'm not sure what to do next
