I've also been bitten by this. I think it is a UI issue, the options
are ambiguous. Would it be possible to simply change the dialog box as
follows? --
Debian desktop environments:
[ ] ... GNOME (default)
[ ] ... Xfce
[ ] ... KDE
[ ] ... Cinnamon
[ ] ... MATE
[ ] ... LXDE
