You're missing the libgl1-mesa-dri package (or it's partly installed, or
corrupted...). In any case, try reinstalling libgl1-mesa-dri.

*nod* xterm doesn't need 3d rendering. Some desktop environments do.

Looks like your video chipset doesn't require firmware, so that's fine.
