MC from a small script file in $home which loads an xterm, with some

I am running Debian Sid fully updated.
How fully? My mc (in Gnome Terminal) looks OK, but I haven't upgraded
today or yesterday, as apt wants to remove 84 packages. There looks to
be some kind of logjam involving KDE and/or Qt.
