That could be a bug. On the other hand, "killed" implies that it may
not have had the opportunity to perform a clean shutdown, perhaps
leaving behind a PID file or some other cruft that must be cleaned up
prior to the next start. I am not specifically familiar with snort, but
the pattern is certainly common enough.
