This should be fixable with "flat-volumes = no" in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf
Many thanks, but for different reasons: I *love* Classical Music, which, frequently has very soft, as well as quite loud passages in the same piece. (Two well-known examples: Bolero, by Maurice Ravel begins at a whisper, but ends, extremely loud. The other, 1812 Overture, by Tchaikovsky, has many soft passages, but includes a Climax with the entire Orchestra, plus Cannons!)
I was, actually blaming the CD Recording, when the Dynamics were "flattened", but then saw this Thread. Thanks again!
