I am regularly building my own kali-linux versions

That's a particular use case, but I'd just like to add that for a regular user, a package disappearing from testing may not have an immediate effect. The package won't be uninstalled just because it's no longer in the repository; the user will remain with the version he had installed. Some time in the future a dependency problem might make that version incompatible with newer versions of other packages (generally libraries) and only then the user might need to remove the package.
