Thanks to all.  My revised script is at

"if mountpoint -q $WorkingDirectory ..." checks whether something is 
mounted at the working directory.  What about checking whether the 
filesystem of a specific device is mounted at that directory?  Can 
that be checked easily?

Additional tips to improve the script are always welcome.
