My guess from this is that the former SD card is connected to the

Good guess.

00:10.0 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCIxx21/x515 Cardbus Controller

Err, what is the relationship between a CardBus (formerly PCMCIA) adapter and a SD card reader ?

Aren't you confusing with something like this :

0b:00.1 SD Host controller: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822 SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host Adapter (rev 13)
	Kernel driver in use: sdhci-pci

(taken on my own ThinkPad, but what the heck, it does not have any SD card slot !)
