My thoughts would be to mark the partition you wish to use as swap as
"Do not use" in the installer.
This is my routine ever since discovering the Debian installer's rudeness.

Then, on the first boot, add the partition manually to /etc/fstab:

UUID=...	none	swap	sw	0	0

As my swaps always have a label set, I use it, and not UUID=. UUIDs weren't made for humans.
