Thanks, Jude. Good point, which I missed.

There's a license incopatibility between the FSF's documentation
license and Debian's free software guidelines which makes the FSF's
docs appear under "non-free" in Debian. That's unfortunate, but
something which happens because both groups take their licensing
policies seriously (which is in itself a Good Thing, imho).

That depends on "you" and "quickly" :-)

The documentation itself is extensive and well written, but if you
come with preconceptions (most of us do), you might still have
a hard time at the beginning. Full text search? No problem, but if
you don't know that Emacs calls its cursor "point" or its selection
"region" (OK, "region" is something much more interesting than
just a selection) or...

I know it myself because I went through that at the beginning. Coming
from vi (and later the awesome vim, which I still love to use: call
me kinky if you want :)

But good to know that some, like you, seem to "get into" more easily.
